Joe Henson and Alexis Smith began collaborating in 2005 when they co- produced an album for Joe’s band Seventhsun. After realising they had a similar approach to life and wildly divergent musical tastes, they formed a creative partnership that quickly encompassed song writing, production, and composition. This year saw them winning Best Music Game Score at the Ivor Novello alongside Joris Deman for their ground-breaking work on Horizon Zero Dawn!!!
As The Flight, they have worked with some of the most exciting artists on the global stage, from Lana Del Rey to Keaton Henson. Recently working with Say Lou Lou and newcomer Alex Maxwell, The Flight composed critically acclaimed major soundtracks for some of the game industry’s biggest titles including Horizon: Zero Dawn and Alien: Isolation. This culminated in the duo being shortlisted for numerous awards including a BAFTA Games Awards nomination for Alien: Isolation winners of of Best Audio and the Game Developers Choice Awards.
2016 saw the the pair’s release the E.P ‘Sarah’ which saw The Line Of Best Fit celebrate ‘the intangible genius of The Flight’. The extended play comes after previous EP releases ‘Hangman’ and ‘The Sinner Inside’ that receiving glowing reviews from Clash Magazine and Pigeons and Planes. They use traditional and handmade instruments, combined with hip-hop cut-and-paste to produce a wholly unique sound.
